IBS 2020 | Recap
Mockett exhibits at IBS & KBIS 2020 put on by NAHB and NKBA shows the best in residential construction and kitchen and bath trends.

Mockett at the International Builders’ Show

We had a phenomenal start to the new decade exhibiting at the International Builders’ Show (IBS) in Las Vegas last week! If you’re not familiar with the show, it is sponsored by the National Association of Home Builders (NAHB) and is the largest annual light duty construction show in the world with over 100,000 builders, remodelers, design professionals and architects in attendance and more than 1,400 manufacturers and suppliers showing off all of the latest trends in home building. Not to mention the IBS has partnered with KBIS, the Kitchen & Bath Industry Show, which is the largest kitchen and bath design show in North America, so we estimate that there may have been over 100,000 visitors in total in attendance.

While we certainly enjoy showcasing our collection of premium architectural hardware, we also love getting a chance to walk around and check out some of the cool new trends and designs in the custom home building market. IBS/KBIS 2020 definitely brought some refreshing new style and grace. Here are some of our favorite concepts from this year’s show:

IBS 2020Raw Elements:
Industrial Chic style is making a huge impact on all areas of design. From walls and flooring to lights and fixtures, raw natural elements are on full display with contemporary accents to soften the look. New modern takes on traditional surfaces are in. Hanging Edison bulbs with precision detailing are a dazzlingly eye-catching way to dress up your industrial space. Mixing metals and wood was another popular trend. Using different species of wood together can create a very unique custom look, then adding metal, raw or finished, introduces a totally different dynamic.

Colors:
There were colors aplenty at the show, which we found really inspiring. Residential design is full of fun ideas – it’s your home, right? Express yourself! Painted appliances, colorful faucets, and ceramic coated stainless steel were among the options we saw. Our colorful power grommet options were very popular as well. In fact, you may have seen our recent Color of the Year announcement for Aero Blue. We too feel that a colorful backdrop in interior design gives you limitless options for wonderful accents in your hardware selection.

IBS 2020Black & White Marble:
Like the old saying goes, black goes with everything. We couldn’t agree more. This was particularly true in the various marble designs throughout the show. Many booths displayed kitchens, bedrooms and bathrooms all adorned with beautiful marble slabs not only on countertops and showers but also as headboards, sliding doors and accent walls. The contemporary vibe these toned down colors bring to a room really has an elegant, clean feel that we love! Black hardware has a stunning pairing with these lovely black and white veiny marble tops. Check out our collection of drawer pulls to go with it.

IBS & KBIS did it again. Another HUGE showing, another inspiring exhibition, and another positive step in strengthening the future of smart, conscious design in custom home building. The construction industry seems to be full of excitement and wonderful ideas for retrofitting builds with integrated power and stunning architectural finishes to their casework. We can’t wait to do it all again and show you what’s new at IBS 2021 in Orlando!
