Mockett 3D Prints COVID-19 Mask Strap Extenders and Face Shield Visors

3D PrintingDoug Mockett & Company is putting their two giant Gigabot 3D printers to work in order to assist the healthcare industry. Mockett has partnered with local area hospitals Torrance Memorial Hospital, Little Company of Mary, and Cedars-Sinai to deliver as many 3D printed face shields and mask strap buckles as possible during these trying times.

Healthcare workers are in short supply of personal protective equipment (PPE). As many nurses and healthcare professionals know, working long hours while wearing protective N95 masks can put a lot of strain and tension on your ears. Mask extender brackets provide added length to the straps to fit around the back of the neck rather than over the ears to relieve the pressure. For those frontline workers dealing directly with infected patients or potentially infected persons, face shields are needed in addition to the N95 mask to avoid the spread of airborne agents.

Mockett’s New Products Development Team is hard at work in designing and printing visors with flexible arms that will hold a clear plastic face shield. These are being delivered daily fully assembled with the shield in place. The mask extenders have been updated with custom inspirational messages stenciled into the back such as “STRONG” and “1 FOR ALL” as a reminder of our appreciate for nurses and frontline healthcare workers. Also as a reminder of how “we are all in this together”.

We want to give thanks to all the other architects and designers who are stepping up in their own community to assist by 3D printing materials and offering additional assistance in other areas. We hope the worst of it is behind us as we work together to flatten the curve. Please stay safe, friends.
