Hurricane Harvey Relief – A Beautiful Remodel

As you know, Hurricane Harvey left a wake of devastation in its path in the Fall of last year, unloading unprecedented amounts of water in what can be only be described as a “1,000 years flood”. Houston and many other areas along the gulf were utterly destroyed with more than 30,000 people displaced from their homes. We have many clients in the affected areas, and we quickly sprung into action to see how we could help. We organized a drive here in CA and drove two loaded Ford E350 vans out to Houston, full of foodstuffs, clothing, medical supplies, and more. The vans were donated to 3V Company, whose facility was devastated by the storms, and the supplies were dropped off at a local donation facility. We also reached out to all of our clients in the area to let them know we’re all in this together and we were able to offer relaxed terms and free samples to help them rebuild. It’s hard to see any positives come out of a devastating disaster, but seeing people come together in the affected areas, supporting each other and rebuilding their communities, was truly inspiring and served as a nod to our good faith in humanity.

One particular client of ours, Gina Baik, shared her story with us. Her home was flooded to 2’ due to a reservoir release and the still water sat in her house for an entire week. Her brand new home was destroyed. Not being in an area that would typically be deemed a flood zone, there was no flood insurance on the property. She responded to our open letter to clients in the area and mentioned she was redoing her kitchen cabinets and asked for some help on some cabinet pulls. We were happy to oblige, sending her a number of free parts to help her rebuild. This was in October immediately after the flood. We didn’t expect to hear back, we just hoped she would be well on her way to getting back on her feet and getting back to life as she knew it prior to the flood. Well, Gina was kind enough to follow up with us and provide updates throughout the rebuild process and she didn’t waste any time! She provided some after photos in March with a beautifully remodeled kitchen and bath that look absolutely stunning. The transformation is unreal. The photos almost look fake, don’t they? Like renderings for a model home? Nope, that’s Gina’s handy work. Beautifully done. And what a great story to boot. We are so thankful for all of our customers and each of their unique individual stories.
