We were thrilled to attend Boutique Design Trade Fair in New York last week! BDNY is the premiere trade show event for the hospitality industry and with over 750 exhibitors lining the aisles of the Javits Convention Center, there is never a dull moment with all the designer eye-candy around every corner.
If you stopped by to see us at booth 556 on the first day you may have noticed something was missing – one of our crates was delayed in transit and we had to do Day 1 without any of our Power Grommets! In spite that minor setback, we still had a great time talking with all of you while showing off all of our premium hardware we had in the booth that day. With everything getting back on track by Day 2, and with all of the latest in architectural hardware on display, we presented some new design concepts, new finishes, new variations on our most popular products, and of course some of our long time customer favorites.
There was a ton to see at the show with an abundance of new and bold designs. Some notable trends that took hold this year included minimalist lighting, bold textile patterns, and striking black and gold accents, but velvet and greenery were major standouts amongst everything else. In nearly every aisle, we spotted luxurious velvet accent furniture pieces that added a plush, cozy wow-factor to the display. Equally as prevalent was the amount of greenery – from living walls to unique potted plants to chandelier arrangements hung from the ceiling – there was some element of plant art in nearly every other booth! All of these design elements are sure to have a huge presence in the near future to provide a breath of fresh air (pun intended) for hospitality design. In addition, providing even more of a living environment feel, natural wood furniture and live edge tables were very popular.
BDNY 2018 was a fabulous show. As always, we had a great time meeting and talking with new customers, catching up with old friends, and meeting everyone at our booth! It is always such a pleasure to meet our customers face to face and put our parts on display so you can touch and feel the quality and kick the tires. We hope you enjoyed the show. Until next year!
