JR Hildebrand Ed Carpenter Racing - NTT Indycar Series
JR Hildebrand has been a part of Team Mockett since 2006, where he dominated the USF2000. He then moved on to Indy Lights and won the championship in 2009. This awarded him the chance to move up to Indy Car Series in 2010, and in 2011, he came in second place in the Indianapolis 500. He led the race with one lap to go and while nursing a car very low on fuel, he hit a wall in the final turn and coasted over the finish line, just letting go of the lead in the final stretch for the second place finish. A disappointing finish for the rookie sensation who was looking to pull off the big upset, but a phenomenal performance nonetheless!
JR is a true competitor, pulling off three top-10 finishes in the Indy 500 even after battling serious injuries. Furthermore, he is as much a force academically as he is on the track. When he's not behind the wheel, he even teaches at Stanford, making the trip from Boulder, CO a couple times a month to work with students on new cutting edge technology.
