Working From Home? We have the Hardware Solutions You Need!

If there is one thing we’re learning from the pandemic and subsequent work habits that have developed as a result, we now know there are two types of people in this world: those that enjoy the freedoms of flopping on the couch, or the bed, or posting up at the kitchen counter to mix up their work day, and those who do not. Some workers simply need more structure, more definition as it pertains to a work space so they can get into that headspace of ‘work mode’. But it’s a delicate balance of course, not wanting your home office to start eating into your other living space areas to the point where you feel your work life is consuming your home life and you are now essentially Living at Work.

Work From Home

So, how do we address this delicate work life balance? There will forever be two schools of thought on this it seems, those that want to establish a proper work desk and those that want to work comfortably wherever they see fit for the day, but we can probably all agree that we want to shy away from the looming connection to the office on the weekends and after hours. Perhaps the easiest way is to start small and continue to think small. Use only the space you need. Try to operate on a smaller scale. This is especially important when considering encroaching on community space when dealing with your partner. A small office desk in the bedroom is manageable, but if it’s starts growing into something bigger, it could easily cause problems with your spouse. Especially when there is more than one working professional at home on the clock in the same household.

Think Small. Small desks require small power solutions.

Use an under-desk mount or a small unobtrusive in-desk grommet to preserve precious surface real estate. These power grommet options drop in from the top and are secured from underneath and take up very little of your surface area and will not interfere with your work flow.

Wireless chargers built into the desk can also eliminate unneeded charging cables draping across the desk. They can either be installed underneath the desk for a completely clean surface or mounted into the desk for a visible target area.

Light duty installations like under-desk and edge-mount power docks give you the opportunity to easily put convenient power and USB charging options within reach without having to drill into your desk and making holes to mount. They simply anchor onto the back of the desk using a c-clamp or screw into the underside or backside of the desk. Easy for anyone to handle themselves without having to take on professional assistance.

Or if you simply don’t to deal with any type of installation, no matter how big or small, you can always use a freestanding tabletop power supply and place it anywhere you need convenient access to charging options. And you can take it with you if you relocate to another work space around the house. They’re also useful outside of work hours when you need a power hub device around the house for personal use.
